How to Lose Weight After Birth?

How to go back to pre-pregnant body?

The key on this question is a healthy diet and an overall fitness program.

The body return to its pre-pregnant state six weeks after delivery. Even those women who undergone cesarean process have their incisions completely healed by that time. Before you proceed for an exercise program, consult your doctor first for any complications associated with your delivery.

If your doctor says "Yes" you can now return to your pre-pregnant activities slowly. But you should know that your muscles could have lost their bulk and replaced by fat. Build them up slowly by increasing their load, by bearing your own weight in the upright position which could be done by brisk walking or on a stationary bike. Increase the distance slowly every week or 2 as far as you can tolerate. But don't strain your muscles by being overly ambitious.

Routines

You can also go for aerobic exercises such as swimming and dancing. You could also try lifting weights and yoga. Attend supervised sessions first so that someone can assess your capacity.

Spot reduction of problem areas may not be effective if you don't start an overall fitness program. But your "ballooned-out" abdomen may benefit from abdominal muscle stretching exercises to improve its tone. Curl-ups or sit-ups will flex and tone these muscles.

Breastfeed! Take care of your child first before exercising. Lactic acid can cause your milk to be acidic as you produce it during strenuous physical activities.

Changes in Diet

You should change your diet for you to go back in pre-pregnancy weight. Here are some tips.

1. Have a regular meal pattern. Breakfast is important, plus at least one hot meal daily.
2. Eat at least 5 portions of vegetables and fruits daily, about 400 grams.
3. Eat high-fiber bread.
4. Restrict your intake of high-sugar snacks.
